24 Nov Rechargeable Hearing Aids
One of the latest innovations in hearing technology has been the rechargeable hearing device. The technology is now extremely well refined and able to offer up to 20 hours of use after only 4 hours of charge.
Most manufacturers now use Lithium-ion technology. Lithium-ion is ideal for hearing aids as they offer an extremely fast charging time and allow for a full day of use even when streaming from accessories. Additionally, they can be recharged without the need to fully discharge the battery before placing it back in the charger – you won’t ‘overcharge’ them. They will last the lifetime of the hearing aid with several years of repeated charging.
Most Lithium-ion hearing aids seal the battery within the body of the device so that it is protected from mishandling and from dust and moisture, which is great for safety and reliability. Perhaps the greatest advantage, however, is convenience. You no longer need to worry about the expense and inconvenience of purchasing, carrying and changing disposable batteries. This is particularly useful for those with dexterity difficulties. Simply drop your hearing aids in the charger and take them out in the morning fully charged and ready on for the day – no hassle.
